Perez gives up second-inning single, count at 7,336 games

Mets’ starting pitcher Oliver Perez began his outing with a two-run lead Saturday and retired three straight Philadelphia Phillies in the bottom of the first.

But with two outs in the second, Perez gave up single to left-center to catcher Chris Coste to push the NoNoHitters.com count up to 7,336 games without a New York Mets no hitter.

The Mets won 4-2 for their fifth straight victory, with Perez pitching 5 2/3 innings giving up no runs on four hits with seven strikeouts.
