Braves catcher Brian McCann singled to right in the second inning Sunday to move the NoNoHitters.com count to 7,344 New York Mets games without a no hitter.
The Mets won 6-3 thanks to a pair of Carlos Delgado homers, but Billy Wagner’s streak of nine consecutive no-hit innings came to an end when the Mets closer gave up a line-drive single to right to Matt Diaz with one out in the ninth. Wagner went on to finish off the next two batters to get his sixth save of the season.
Nelson Figueroa got the start for the Mets and lasted 5 1/3 innings while giving up 3 earned runs, 7 hits and 3 walks while striking out 3.
went to the game on Sunday & hung a small poster near Tommie Agee’s historic 1969 upper deck HR marker near the left field foul pole…poster read “7,344 games & counting..a no hitter today boys???”…. no no-hitter 🙁
Cool. Thanks for that!
