Pedro Martinez gave up just one earned run in six innings Sunday to help the New York Mets bounce back in the nightcap of a doubleheader.
But it was Pedro’s pinch hitter – Robinson Cancel – who was the big hero. Cancel hit a two-RBI single in the sixth to give the Mets a 4-2 lead – which the Mets’ bullpen managed to hold on to.
Pedro’s no hitter was debunked in the first inning when Frank Catalanotto doubled to right field, thus putting the NoNoHitters.com count at 7,388 games without a Mets no hitter.
David Wright went 3-for-4 in the game.
