Johan Santana pitched a three-hit complete game shutout Sunday to lead the Mets to a 4-0 win over the Pittsburgh Pirates – the team’s sixth straight win.
The Pirates’ first hit off Santana came in the fourth inning when shortstop Jack Wilson singled to right center, making it 7,444 Mets games since 1962 with no no-hitters. But no worries for Santana, who gave up just two more hits, struck out seven and walked none en route to his 11th victory.
Brian Schneider went 2-for-3 with a two-run homer and an RBI single and Carlos Beltran added a solo shot in the sixth.
The Mets look to complete a four-game sweep of the Pittsburgh Pirates on Monday.
