Looks like Oliver Perez will round out the New York Mets’ starting rotation.
Perez and the club have agreed to a 3-year $36 million contract, returning him to the starting rotation with Johan Santana, Mike Pelfrey, John Maine and … likely … Tim Redding.
So which one of the five will get the first Mets no-hitter? Perez, if he’s on, has as good a chance as any. Let’s hope he doesn’t get too comfortable with that lucrative contract.
In other recent Mets pitching news, Aaron Heilman never got to pitch a game for the Seattle Mariners. The Ms traded Heilman to the Chicago Cubs, and he’s expected to compete for a spot in the Cubs’ rotation. Could he wind up facing the Mets in a game and hold them hitless? Now that would add some irony.
