Johan Santana struck out 10 during another stellar start as the New York Mets broke a four-game losing streak, beating the Washington Nationals 4-3.
Santana gave up just one run on six hits and one walk in six innings. He lost his no-hitter in the second inning on a Adam Dunn bloop single to center, making it 7,498 New York Mets games without a no-hitter.
The only run off Santana came in the sixth inning, when Nick Johnson led off with a homer to left.
Luis Castillo had another strong game, going 2-for-5 with an RBI and a run scored.
Things got hairy in the ninth inning when Jesus Flores tagged Francisco Rodriguez for a two-run homer, but K-Rod settled down and managed to get the last three outs for the save.
