7,506: Homers from Beltran, Wright and Beltran lift Mets

Love those 2-run dingers

Carlos Beltran blasted a pair of two-run homers and David Wright also got one as the New York Mets overcame a three-run deficit to top the Atlanta Braves 6-4 at Turner Field Monday night.

Mets starter John Maine got into trouble in the third inning, giving up three runs on a a pair of hits and three walks. But those would be the only three runs he’d give up over a strong six-inning stint that ended with three hits, six walks and seven strikeouts.

He lost his no-hitter in the second inning when Jeff Francoeur led off with a single up the middle, making it 7,506 New York Mets games without a no-no.

Bobby Parnell contributed with a scoreless inning and J.J. Putz got tagged for a solo homer before Francisco Rodriguez came in for a 1-2-3 ninth.
