The Atlanta Braves held the Mets to two hits while racking up 11 runs Friday night as the Mets woes continued with a shutout.
Mets’ starter Mike Pelfrey gave up nine runs on nine hits and three walks in 4 1/3 innings of work. He lost his no-hitter in the first inning when Martin Prado doubled, making it 7,571 New York Mets games without a no-hitter.
The only hits Braves’ starter Jair Jurrjens gave up were a second-inning leadoff double by Gary Sheffield and a fourth-inning double by David Wright.
Sheffield later left the game with a hamstring injury.
And more bad news … the Phillies won again, so the Mets are now 8 1/2 games out of first.
