Livan Hernandez provided the strong start and Jeff Francoeur led the offense as the Mets bounced back from a tough series in Atlanta with a 6-2 win over the Washington Nationals.
Francoeur had a 3-for-4 night with a homer and two RBIs, and Daniel Murphy went 2-for-4 with 2 RBIs. Angel Pagan and Luis Castillo each knocked in a run.
Hernandez yielded just two earned runs over seven innings, giving up five hits and two walks while striking out three. He lost his no-hitter in the first inning on a Ronnie Belliard single, making it 7,574 New York Mets games without a no-hitter.
Pedro Felicano, Sean Green and Francisco Rodriguez closed out the game without allowing any Nats’ runs.
