Mets starter Nelson Figueroa, just called up to replace Pat Misch on the roster, lasted just 1-2/3 innings, yielding six runs on ten hits as the Mets dropped their third game in four to the Diamondbacks, 6-5. Not that a no-hitter would have been in the cards, but Figueroa lost his opportunity on the second pitch of the game to Stephen Drew, who doubled. It marks the 943rd time that a no-hitter has been killed in the first at-bat, and the 7,587th overall.
The Mets tried to come back with one run in the third, three in the fifth, and one in the sixth, but the offense just wasn’t there to overcome the damage Figueroa had done.
