The Mets took an early lead, but the Florida Marlins hit Mike Pelfrey hard to beat New York 5-3 in Miami.
Pelfrey lost his no-hitter in the first-inning on a Hanley Ramirez single for the 7,609th New York Mets game without a no-no. He threw more than 100 pitches, giving up five runs on 11 hits and two walks over 5 2/3 innings of work.
Fernando Tatis was 3-for-4 with an RBI double in the second, and Anderson Hernandez (2-for-4) singled home the Mets’ second run that inning. Cory Sullivan sacrifice home the Mets’ third run in the sixth.
