Our friends at Mets Walk-Offs And Minutiae are starting a great series on the Mets’ top 60 homers of all time (60 being one percent of 6,000, which Anderson Hernandez just accomplished).
I particularly like #58, because it was one of the earliest still-clear memories of a particular Mets homer (I was 6). On Aug. 27, 1974, Benny Ayala hit a homer in his first Major League at-bat.
