7,630: Mets drop sixth straight with 6-5 loss to Washington

Six in a row

The Mets scored three ninth-inning runs but their comeback fell short as the Washington Nationals topped New York 6-5 at Citi Field.

Cristian Guzman’s first-inning single off Mike Pelfrey advanced our NoNoHitters.com count to 7,630 New York Mets games without a no-no, as any hopes of the franchise breaking its dubious streak in the 48th year are starting to fade.

Pelfrey threw seven innings, giving up five runs (four of them earned) on seven hits, though he walked none.

Jeff Francoeur had a 3-for-5 night, and Luis Castillo and Carlos Beltran each had multi-hit games.
