7,631: Redding takes no-no into fourth en route to 3-2 win

Mets starter Tim Redding took a no-hitter into the fourth inning Saturday as New York topped the Washington Nationals 3-2 at Citi Field.

Redding was perfect through 3, but Willie Harris stepped up to the plate and reached base on a bunt single to bump the NoNoHitters.com count up to 7,631 games. Redding got Cristian Guzman to hit into a double play and wound up getting through 5 2/3 innings facing the minimum 17 batters.

He left the game in the eighth after throwing seven innings, yielding a single earned run on four hits and two walks.

Providing the offense for the Mets against Nationals’ starter John Lannan was Jeff Francoeur, who hit a pair of doubles including an RBI two-bagger in the eighth, and Daniel Murphy, who hit an RBI single in the first and scored on an error in the eighth.
