Pat Misch got shellacked for eight runs in an inning-and-a-third Monday night as the Atlanta Braves topped the Mets 11-3 at Citi Field.
The debacle started with a leadoff single by Nate McLouth that advanced our NoNoHitters.com count to 7,633 New York Mets games without a no-hitter. What followed was a Martin Prado double, a Chipper Jones RBI ground-out, a Briann McCann walk, a Yunel Escobar fielder’s choice for an RBI and a Garret Anderson two-run homer. In other words, a four-run first inning.
The second inning was no better, as Matt Diaz led off with a homer and Chipper Jones followed with a three-run blast later in the inning. Lance Broadway came in to clean up the second but gave up three runs in the third.
Daniel Murphy went 2-for-4 with a homer and a run scored.
