7,637: Marlins’ score 7 in 5th to beat Mets

One bad inning

The Florida Marlins scored seven fifth-inning runs Saturday night for a 9-6 victory over the New York Mets.

Mets’ starter John Maine lost his no-hitter in the second inning on a Jorge Cantu single to bump the NoNoHitters.com count to 7,637 New York Mets games without a no-no. Maine was charged with seven earned runs on seven hits and three walks in his 4 2/3 innings of work.

The Mets’ runs came from a Fernando Tatis two-run homer in the fourth, a David Wright RBI double in the fifth and a Carlos Beltran solo shot in the eighth. Anderson Hernandez and Angel Pagan scored on an error in the ninth.
