7,638: Misch throws complete-game shutout vs. Marlins

Go the distance …

Pat Misch went the distance for a complete-game shutout Sunday to lead the New York Mets to a 4-0 win over the Florida Marlins.

Misch lost his no-hitter right away, giving up a leadoff single to Chris Couglan. That advanced our NoNoHitters.com count to 7,638 New York Mets games without a no-no, and marked the 1,746th time it advanced with the leadoff batter. (Details on our No-hitters killed by first at bat page.)

Misch scattered eight hits and three walks while striking out two during his start.

Josh Thole scored the Mets’ first run with a sacrifice fly in the second. Jeff Francoeur hit a two-run homer in the third, and Anderson Hernandez hit a solo shot in the fifth.
