Rod Barajas hit a two-run walk-off homer, his second round-tripper of the night, to give the Mets a 6-4 win over the San Francisco Giants Friday night at Citi Field.
Rookie Ike Davis also kept the home-run apple busy with solo shots in the second and fourth innings. Barajas’ earlier homer, a solo shot, came in the second. Barajas leads the Mets with nine homers on the season.
Mets starter Mike Pelfrey lost his no-hitter in the first inning on an Aubrey Huff bunt single, bumping our NoNoHitters.com count up to 7,673 New York Mets games without a no-no.
The Mets jumped on the scoreboard first in the opening inning after Jose Reyes reached base on a two-out single, stole second and then scored on a Jason Bay RBI double.
New York had a 4-3 lead in the ninth, but Francisco Rodriguez couldn’t close the door, giving up a solo shot to pinch-hitter John Bowker. David made a great catch on a Pedro Sandoval foul ball into the dugout later in the inning to keep the game tied at 4.
