The New York Mets shut out the Philadelphia Phillies for the second straight night Wednesday, thanks to a Rod Barajas-and-Jose Reyes-powered offense and six strong innings from Hisanori Takahashi.
The 5-0 win was the Mets’ fourth straight victory.
Takahashi gave up just five hits and didn’t walk a single batter while striking out six. He lost his no-hitter in the second inning on a Ben Francisco single, bumping our NoNoHitters.com county to 7,691 New York Mets games with no no-no.
Barajas got the Mets on the board in the second inning with a sacrifice fly, and Jose Reyes made it 2-0 in the third with his first homer of the year.
Barajas knocked in two more with a sixth-inning double, and Reyes drove home Barajas with a single later in the inning.
The Mets go for the sweep at Citi Field tomorrow night, with Mike Pelfrey set to battle Cole Hamels.
