Adrian Gonzalez hit a sixth-inning RBI single to break a tie and lead the San Diego Padres to a 4-2 win over the New York Mets in Citi Field.
Gonzalez also was responsible for killing Johan Santana’s no-hitter with a first-inning single, advancing our NoNoHitters.com count to 7,703 New York Mets games without a no-no.
Santana threw for 6 2/3 innings, giving up four runs on eight hits and four walks.
He was outpitched by Mat Latos, who threw six innings of two-hit ball, allowing just two earned runs while fanning eight batters. Both runs came on Henry Blanco’s second-inning blast that gave the Mets a two-run lead.
