Hisanori Takahashi had a strong start and Jose Reyes and Jeff Francoeur hit solo homers Saturday night as the New York Mets topped the Baltimore Orioles 3-1 at Camden Yard.
Takahashi gave up just one earned run on six hits and a walk in seven innings of work. He lost his no-hitter when Corey Patterson led off with a double, advancing our NoNoHitters.com count to 7,706 games with no no-no. (See our No-hitters killed by first at bat for more details on these.)
Reyes homered in the game’s first at-bat, and Francoeur’s shot came in the eighth. David Wright knocked in the Mets’ third RBIs on a sixth-inning fielder’s choice.
