Why did Gary Cohen mention that R.A. had held the Yanks hitless through 4 right before Cano’s double. Don’t GK&R know not to say anything … ever?!?!
I think the Mets’ broadcast booth needs to adopt strict rules of no mention of the lack of hits while a no-hitter is in play. In my mind, Gary was fine when he was saying “retired the first 10,” etc. but using the word hit in that context needs to be taboo.
And mentioning anything about the streak at all when it’s active is even more taboo. Ron Darling did that on a TBS broadcast a year or two ago, and sure enough it was lost immediately thereafter.
