For the record, tonight I watched the SNY broadcast but listened to the WFAN feed because I knew Howie Rose would do it right … props!
We've now gone 8 years, 7 months, and 26 days without a no-hitter since Johan Santana's gem! We had gone 8,019 games - or more than 50 years - without a no-no.

I certainly hope that, despite the No-No tonight, that this website will NOT be going away. It has been an enjoyable site to visit, albeit documenting a somewhat un-enjoyable situation… all those games without a no-hitter. You have done a fantastic job with this site, and I know that you knew, all the time, that you “believed” that eventually there would be 1 for all of us Mets fans. Finally !
Hey, WFAN is trying to get in touch with you. What is your email address?
I am so glad the no-hitter finally happened!!! I’ve been a Mets fan my whole life. (Being born April 11, 1960–the Mets 1st game–April 11, 1962). I have seen them come so close many, many times, such as withTom Seaver, the franchise.
Santana is a class act, and I am glad he was the first to do it.
I hope this site stays up. I really enjoy the way it’s done. Keep it up.

Thanks for all the fish. Nice work.
Lifelong Mets fan, now living in Minneapolis — never thought I would see this, took me 36.5 years !! WFAN has Howie Rose’s call up on their website — Even Gary Cohen said he wanted to hear Howie during the ninth inning of the Mets game on SNY last night !! Celebrate and be proud Mets nation, we’ve been waiting our entire lives for this !!
I have always boasted that I have been to the 2 best Mets games in history: Seaver’s 1969 gem of perfect game into the 9th vs. the Cubs, and of course, Game 6 of the ’86 Series. I now have to put my boast to bed. Congrats to Johan, no one more deserving.
Maybe “Noperfectgames.com”?
I have enjoyed coming to this site daily but the time has come. Time for the site to come down! Kind of like the end of the Truman show when he finally leaves. Shows over!
I’ve been following the Mets since the Amazins and have been a no-hitter freak since around the same time and last night was truly a hoot! Tears in my eyes, and I apologize for scaring my neighbors, if they could hear me scream over the thunderstorm. I won’t even mention Yo Adrian’s slightly erroneous call, but someone should post his address for everyone to send him a holiday card this year! I also hope this site continues somehow! To those lamenting the perfecto drought, I’ll note how the Mets are in excellent company there. The franchises still awaiting their first are:
AL: Tampa Bay, Baltimore, Toronto, Detroit*, Kansas City, Minnesota, Seattle.
NL: N.Y. Mets, Miami, Atlanta, St. Louis, Pittsburgh, Milwaukee, Houston, Chicago, S.F. Giants, Colorado, San Diego.
*Detroit’s Armando Galarraga was denied a perfect game on June 2, 2010, by an admittedly blown call on the 27th out and the commissioner’s refusal to rectify the situation.
And of course, the Cards, Pirates, Giants, Cubs and Braves have waited a lot longer than the Mets, while the Yanks and ChiSox have three each. (No one said life is fair.)
Does everyone know Johan is the 9th pitcher to no-hit the defending World Series champions? Here’s that list (and incredibly, it includes the Yankees’ first-ever no-no):
1917 George Mogridge, New York at Boston, AL, April 24, 2-1.
1941 Lon Warneke, St. Louis at Cincinnati, NL, Aug. 30, 2-0.
1952 Virgil Trucks, Detroit at New York, AL, Aug. 25, 1-0.
1956 * Don Larson, N.Y. Yankees vs Brooklyn Dodgers, WS, Oct. 8, 2-0.
1968 Gaylord Perry, San Francisco vs St. Louis, NL, Sept. 17, 1-0.
1973 Jim Bibby, Texas at Oakland, AL, July 30, 6-0 (Rookie).
1974 Dick Bosman, Cleveland vs Oakland, AL, July 19, 4-0.
1990 Nolan Ryan, Texas at Oakland, AL, June 11, 5-0.
2012 Johan Santana, N.Y. Mets vs St. Louis, NL, June 1, 8-0.
