Johan Santana gave up a second-inning line-drive single to Pat Burrell Friday night to boost the NoNoHitters.com count to 7,335 New York Mets games without a single no hitter.
But more importantly, the Mets’ 6-4 win – their fourth straight – put the team in first place in the N.L. East. It was also New York’s third win in a row against Philadelphia after losing nine straight dating back to last season.
Santana struck out 10 over seven innings while allowing three runs on four hits. David Wright definitely did his part, going 4-for-4 with 2 RBIs and just hitting for the cycle (he only needed a homer).
