Utley’s homer puts count at 7,337, Mets lose 5-4

The Mets’ Mike Pelfrey gave up an opening-inning homer to Chase Utley Sunday night to bring the NoNoHitters.com count to 7,337 games without a New York Mets no hitter.

The Mets overcame a 4-0 lead built up by the Philadelphia Phillies, but the Phils grabbed a run back and held on for a 5-4 win to avoid the series sweep.

Pelfrey wasn’t nearly as effective as he was in his previous two starts, giving up four runs and 10 hits in 5 innings of work.

Jose Reyes and David Wright are continuing to produce for the Mets, and backup catcher Raul Casanova was 2-3 with a double.

The Mets head to Chicago Monday for a two-day series at Wrigley Field.
