The Mets exploded for 5 runs in the eighth inning Tuesday night to overcome a 3-2 deficit and beat the Atlanta Braves 7-3.
Carlos Deglado knocked in two runners with a double, and Damion Easley got two RBIs on a single. Ramon Castro capped the inning with an RBI double.
Starter Oliver Perez went 6 1/3 innings deep, giving up three earned runs on seven hits and five walks with three strikeouts. Perez lost his no-hitter in the second inning when Martin Prado tripled to right center, bringing our NoNoHitters.com county to 7,446 games without a no-no.
Former Washington National Luis Ayala made his Mets debut in the bullpen, getting two well-needed outs in the seventh in relief of Perez. Aaron Heilman was credited with the win, his third of the season.
