Looks like Mets ace Johan Santana may skip this year’s World Baseball Classic.
According to ESPN, Santana tested his left knee Tuesday for this first time since undergoing arthroscopic surgery on Oct. 1. The southpaw threw 18 pitches to a catcher set up in front of the plate at the Mets’ spring training facility in Port St. Lucie, Fla.
Santana told ESPN that he might meet with Omar Minaya this weekend to decide whether he’ll get to represent his home country of Venezuela next month at the WBC.
