OK, we finally have our cast of characters to break the New York Mets’ streak of 7,482 games without a no-hitter.
Mets’ manager Jerry Manuel today named Livan Hernandez the fifth starter, rounding out the rotation of Johan Santana, Mike Pelfrey, Oliver Perez and John Maine.
Hernandez is scheduled to start the Mets’ fifth game, in Miami April 11 versus the Marlins.
Johan Santana will get the first crack at the franchise’s first no-no one week from today in Cincinnati. If he doesn’t succeed, we’ll advance our NoNoHitters.com count for the first time of the season to 7,483 and begin our march to the 7,500 threshold.
