7,536: Maine pummeled in 7-1 loss to Nationals

A bad day

John Maine gave up seven runs in just four full innings of work Saturday night during a 7-1 loss to the Nationals in D.C.

Maine never recorded an out in the fifth inning, getting the hook after giving up a pair of leadoff walks followed by a Nick Johnson three-run homer. Johnson was also responsible for killing the no-hitter with a first-inning double that advanced our NoNoHitters.com count to 7,536 New York Mets games without a no-hitter.

That Nationals’ Jon Lannan, on the other hand, threw a complete-game four-hitter, with three of those hits not coming until the eighth and ninth innings. And it took a fielding error by Elijah Dukes to score the Mets sole run in the eighth.

Enough said about this one.
