Jeff fox hit a grand slam Saturday afternoon to lead the Chicago Cubs to an 11-4 win at Wrigley Field.
Parnell lost the no-hitter in the first inning on a Milton Bradley single, bumping our NoNoHitters.com count up to 7,612 New York Mets games without a no-no.
The Mets jumped on board early when Jeff Francoeur doubled in Luis Castillo (who walked) and Daniel Murphy (who singled).
But the Cubs got one back in the bottom of the second when Kosuke Fukudome led off with a single, moved up to second on a ground-out, advanced to third on a wild pitch and scored on another ground out.
The Cubs tied the game in the third inning with a leadoff walk by opposing pitcher Ryan Dempster and an RBI double by Bradley. Bradley advance to third on a fly out and scored on an Aramis Ramirez double to give the Cubs a 3-2 lead.
The Mets retook the lead in the fourth but a Fernando Tatis baserunning blunder cost them more. Brian Schneider pulled a bases-loaded double down the right-field line to score two runs, but Tatis stopped and restarted while rounding third and was thrown out at the plate. The inning ended with the Mets up 4-3.
But Ramirez tied the game on an RBI single, and Fox`s slam blew it open.
