David Wright hit a two-run ninth-inning homer Saturday for a big 10-9 comeback win over the N.L. East leading Philadelphia Phillies.
The homer into the left-field seats – Wright’s second dinger of the night – capped a 4-for-5, 6 RBI performance for the Mets’ third-baseman.
The Mets had spotted starter Mike Pelfrey a four-run lead before he lost his no-hitter on a second-inning Ryan Howard single, advancing our NoNoHitters.com count to 7,624 New York Mets games without a no-no.
But Pelfrey gave up eight runs on 10 hits and three walks in another horrid outing.
Fernando Tatis went 4-for-5 with three runs scored, Beltran was 3-for-5 on the night and Daniel Murphy was 2-for-4 with an RBI single.
