The Arizona Diamondbacks jumped on Mets starter Mike Pelfrey and didn’t let up on the bullpen Monday night during a 13-2 pounding.
Pelfrey lasted just an inning-and-a-third, giving up six earned runs on seven hits and two walks. He lost his no-hitter immediately on a Chris Young lead-off single, moving our NoNoHitters.com count up to 7,737 New York Mets games with no no-no.
Young’s hit also added to Pelfrey lead over all active-roster Mets pitchers with 29 no-nos lost on the first at bat. (See our No-hitters killed by first at bat page.)
Young eventually scored on that lead-off single, and scored on singles leading off the second as well as the sixth. Mark Reynolds did additional damage with a 3-for-5, 4 RBI night with a triple and three-run homer.
The Diamondbacks tallied up 18 hits on the night.
